Meet the friendly staff at Viera East Veterinary Center!

  • Linda Madyda, DVM
    Dr. Linda Madyda graduated from the University of Kentucky and then attended the Auburn University of Veterinary Medicine and received her doctorate in 1987. She has been practicing in Brevard County since 1988 and is one of the co-founders of Viera East Veterinary Center. Her special interests include internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and canine rehabilitation.
  • Sandra Helpling, DVM
    Dr. Sandra Helpling attended Louisiana State University for both undergraduate studies and Veterinary Medicine. She received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine in 1998. In September of 2003 Viera East Veterinary Center welcomed Dr. Helpling as a new partner. Her special interests include orthopedic and soft tissue surgery, ultrasound, cardiology, and dentistry.
  • Alison Bywater, DVM
    Dr. Alison Bywater graduated from the University of Maryland in 1993 with a B.S. in Marine Biology. She then attended the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine and received her doctorate in 1998. She joined the staff at Viera East Veterinary Center in 2001 and became a partner in September of 2003. Her special interests include internal medicine, diagnostics, dentistry, and general surgery.
  • Darcy Forber, DVM
    Dr. Darcy Forber attended Bowling Green State University with a BSBA in International Business in 1991 and then attended St. George's University School of Veterinary Medicine and received her Doctorate in 2011. Dr. Forber is also a Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist through the Chi Institute in Reddick, Florida. Her areas of special interest are internal medicine, nutrition, and alternative modalities including acupuncture, herbology, and food therapies.
  • Melanie - Office Manager
    Melanie joined the team at Viera East Veterinary Center in 2015. Melanie started her career in 1999 at a three doctor practice on Long Island, NY where she became head technician and managed both hospital employees and inventory. In 2003 she moved to Florida and worked in the fields of animal emergency and general small animal practice. Melanie lives with her fiancé, 4 children, and a husky named Allie. She has a very big interest in anything Disney related and even runs her own Disney Facebook page. During her free time you can find her 4 wheeling, hanging out with friends, or enjoying time at the Disney parks.
  • Jolanta - Canine Rehabilitation
    Jolanta joined Viera East Veterinary Center in 2005 and received her Certification in Canine Rehabilitation in 2006. She currently leads our rehabilitation center helping our patients with injury, surgery recovery, and pain management. Jolanta has three rescue cats: Cosmo, Nouba and Slick (Slick is an amputee and does just fine getting around and playing with his buddies). All three were adopted through Viera East Veterinary Center. Outside of work Jolanta enjoys yoga, dancing, and gardening.
  • Donna - Certified Veterinary Technician
    Donna joined Viera East Veterinary Center in 2008 and finds great joy in providing compassionate nursing care and building relationships with our patients and their owners. She keeps busy with her Labrador Retriever/Pit bull mix Skye and her cat Ellie. Donna relaxes by spending time with her family and friends, being outdoors, bicycle riding, and taking long walks.
  • Lindsey - Veterinary Technician
    Lindsey joined Viera East Veterinary Center in 2007 and has a strong interest in surgery and a passion for providing excellent care to our patients. She graduated from veterinary technician school in 2012. Lindsey shares her home with her two canine companions: Jake, a Walker/Beagle mix and Kay, a Labrador Retriever mix, and with her cat Angus. Outside of work Lindsey enjoys playing and watching baseball. She is an Atlanta Braves and Washington Nationals Fan and in her spare time you can find her at the stadium enjoying a game.
  • Robin - Veterinary Technician
    Robin joined Viera East Veterinary Center in 2006 and has a passion for helping keep pets healthy. She is committed to ensuring the best possible care for our patients and enjoys being part of our dedicated team. Robin spends her time away from work enjoying her family and barbecuing. She and her family opened their hearts and home to their dog Destiny, a rescue from hurricane Katrina.
  • Cindy - Veterinary Technician
    Cindy joined Viera East Veterinary Center in 2005. She is a native New Yorker and has been a veterinary technician here in Florida since 1988. She has owned five Retrievers, two Goldens and three Labradors. Cindy now satisfies her love of canines here at Viera East Veterinary Center. Cindy has a passion for music and greatly enjoys live performances. She also loves living near the ocean and enjoys swimming.
  • Crystal- Veterinary Technician
    Crystal joined the team at Viera East Veterinary Center in 2014. She brings with her 15 years of experience working in animal hospitals. No animal is too big or too small for Crystal because she loves them all. Crystal is originally from Minnesota, but spent 13 years living in Georgia before calling Florida her home. ​ Crystal lives with her husband, two sons, 3 cats Sarashi, Mini and Louis, and 2 dogs Fenway a golden mix and Dixie a Pitbull. In her free time you can find Crystal at a ball game, fishing, at the beach, or at Disney. ​
  • Cresha- Veterinary Technician
    Cresha joined Viera East Veterinary Center in 2015. She graduated from the University of South Florida in 2013 with a bachelor degree in Biology. In 2014 she started her career in veterinary medicine at The Cat Doctor in Tampa, FL. Cresha grew up in Wisconsin until 2005 when her family made the move to sunny Florida. Cresha lives with her two cats Shoshoni and Prince Ali and her cute little Chihuahua mix Autumn. In her spare time she enjoys reading, volunteering, and spending time with her pets.
  • Courtney - Veterinary Technician
    Courtney joined Viera East Veterinary Center in 2016 with 5 years of experience in animal hospitals. She started her career in Maryland where she fell in love with being able to help not only people but animals as well. When she is not working she enjoys spending time outside at the beach or on the Indian River Lagoon. She also enjoys spending time with her critters. She has three cats named Cocoa, Shelby, and Rollie Pollie, as well as two dogs named Reese and Vivie.

  • Rebecca - Veterinary Technician
    Rebecca joined Viera East Veterinary Center in 2013 and graduated from the veterinary technician program at Eastern Florida State College in 2015. She is committed to helping patients feel better and stay healthy. Rebecca grew up in St. Cloud, Florida and has two rescue cats: Lobster and Leonard. In her spare time she volunteers at her local church, spends time with friends and family, and watches as many rocket launches as she can.

  • Denise - Receptionist
    Denise joined Viera East Veterinary Center in 2007 and has worked in the veterinary field since March of 2000. She moved to Florida in 1989 and is originally from Massachusetts. Denise enjoys interacting and forming bonds with the pets and their owners, and being an important part of keeping them healthy. Denise enjoys bicycling, listening to live music, reading, and spending time with her husband. At home she has two feline fur babies, Abby and Zina.
  • Evelyn - Receptionist
    Evelyn joined Viera East Veterinary Center in 2013 and has been in the animal field since 2005. She enjoys greeting our patients and their owners, and finds helping them very enjoyable and rewarding. Evelyn has a Boxer mix named Cash, two cats Arthur and Spooner along with two turtles, Shelly and Henry. Evelyn's interests include spending time with her family, reading, art, and listening to music.
  • Courtney - Kennel Manager
    Courtney joined Viera East Veterinary Center as the kennel manager in 2016. Animals have been Courtney's passion since he was young, and he began working at pet stores and doggy day cares at an early age. He plans to pursue his dream of becoming a dog trainer, but until that time he loves to take care of your pets at Viera East.
