Dr. Alison Bywater graduated from the University of Maryland in 1993 with a Bachelors of Science in Marine Biology. She then attended the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine, receiving her doctorate in 1998. After graduation she worked at a small animal veterinary clinic in Baltimore, MD but shortly thereafter she married and moved to Florida where she worked at Rockledge Animal Clinic. In 2001, Dr. Bywater accepted her current position at Viera East Veterinary Center and in 2003 she became a partner. Her special interests include internal medicine, diagnostics, and ultrasound.
Dr. Bywater grew up in Linthicum, Maryland and moved to Florida in 1999. Growing up she always loved animals, but it wasn't until college that she decided she wanted to become a veterinarian. Dr. Bywater stated, “ My job is amazing and incredibly rewarding. Pets are such a special and integral part of each and every family and as a veterinarian, I get the privilege to have a relationship with not only the pet but with the owners as well.”
Dr. Bywater is happily married and has three children who keep her active. She loves spending time with her family and their four dogs and three cats. When not working you can find her either at the soccer fields, camping, hiking, or in the kitchen baking.
